TISSUE PAPER PUMPKIN

Tissue Paper Pumpkin Project for Kids
(wow, try and say that 5x's fast)

Do you remember doing this kind of project back in grade school? I like to bring up these oldie-but-goodie types of kid projects for my kids, that I did back when I was little. I remember having so much fun with this!
Supplies you will need
  • Paper with drawn outline of what you will be filling in
  • Tissue paper squares (for this project I used 1"x1" squares, because the surface we were covering was so small) but you can cut them up to whatever size you want, depending on the space you will be filling in.
  • Popsicle stick, coffee stir, anything to help adhere your tissue to the surface.
  • Glue (any kind of kid craft glue) I used Elmer's glue
Place the popsicle stick in the middle of the square,(making sure not to poke it all the way through the tissue paper ) scrunch the paper, dip the end in glue and then place it upright onto your surface. Each time one is place onto the surface, make sure they count to 5 in order to get each one to stick.

They should be puffy and 3D looking. Now my three year old kinda ended up scrunching the tissue into balls and placing those in the outline. It worked too! It just had a different look to it!

Have fun with it! And remember, you can do this with any outline, and /or any Holiday! Pretty fall leaves, with multiple colored tissue! Easter eggs at Easter, or even flowers! It's endless what can be done with this project! Anyway, it would be nice to see your finished projects when your done!
Have fun!!

Autumn Sun Catchers

Leaves Will Fall

This project is for the Lil' ones! (Except, as I was trying to make them
with my 6,  5,  and 2 1/2  year olds, I realized that the 6 year old
was able to do it with much ease. Whereas the the 2 1/2 year old, I
had to finish hers. And the 5 year old was able to do it but
with much help) That's just a bit of advice when
doing this with kids. (Tissue paper and glue make for a
sticky situation.)

I used my Sizzix Big Die to cut the maple leaves and then the big punch tool for the smaller ones. Since tissue paper is so thin, I was able to fold it quite a few times and cut them.

I used recycled tissue paper to make the leaves. (I can never throw away tissue paper when it comes with gift bags)

These are all the items that I used to make the sun catchers
I added a bit more beads to mine, only because I knew they would have a tough time with that.
I hope that you give this a try. It's a great way to welcome Fall. I am soooooo
ready for this season!!!(it is my favorite)
And now my house is starting to look like it!
May Autumn FALL upon us!!

Independence Day

Better Late Than Ever

This project I just kinda thought of and threw together!
We needed some more decorations for our Holiday Tree for
the 4th of July, so this is what we came up with.

As you can see, my daughter's is a lil' more 'BLINGY' than her brothers! (girls will be girls)

I used my Sizzix, Heart, Die Cut!
I first cut a firm, but thin, cardboard heart. Then I folded some
aluminum foil (twice). Then cut into that. (the die cut actually crimped the
edges of the foil so that it sealed the four sheets (from the fold) together. So it made a
stronger, sturdier heart.
We then glued a foil heart on each side of the cardboard one, and then 'Glitzed'
it up!

"Ta Da" this is it! I'm thinkin' that next year we can make some more. (for some reason this
holiday, doesn't have a whole lot of decorations on the tree) But I think it still came out
looking 'Patriotic'!

A HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO YA' ALL!!!

Stained Glass with Melted Crayons

Stained Glass Look Turtle and Butterfly

(using waxed paper and crayon shavings)
We let them melt, out in the sun, on a cookie sheet. We then traced the shape and cut them
out. We should have made an outlined frame from construction paper, because once the
crayons harden, the waxed paper wanted to come apart. Then the shavings started
crumbling and falling out. I then applied glue just at the edges (when I was a little girl we used to make these but kept them in square shapes, so it was easy to make a black border around them)

Rock Painting

Summer Break

I've been trying to do whatever I can to keep my lil' ones busy this summer.
(I do have to thank Pinterest for giving me some of these ideas)
Thank You!
