LIFE ............IS A CIRCUS!!!

Weekly Challenge, #227
Guest Blogger

Today, while the Diva is enjoying summertime fun with her family, Lee Darter was asked to fill in and give us our weekly challenge. ( Cause, "What on earth would we all do if we didn't have the Diva's challenge,.....................Yeeks! That's a scary thought!!!!") Diva, we love you and your challenges! They definitely make me put things in perspective at home. Monday mornings,......first look at the challenge and see what it is,..........try and get my challenge piece done,...............then,.........feed kids, clean house and then so on and so on!  :0)    It really isn't that bad. But the Diva really does help me get into my Zen, and get the week rolling!!! Thank you!!!!
Last week's challenge was peaceful and simple, and I loved it!!! This week is a circus, and I love it!!! The Zentangle method is so versatile that way. No matter how much we fill our tiles, or long it takes to finish,....it's the process that makes it so successful in getting our minds to relax!! I love it!!!
The three tangles I decided to go with were 'Cack', 'Tropicana', and 'LinQ'. Two of which , I had never done before!
So much fun!! Thank you Lee, for this week's challenge, 'What a Circus!'. Please do check out Lee's blog, 'The Art Room'. She is an amazing artist, and the reason for her choosing a challenge like this is all explained in her post. It's so wonderful that such experienced artists share their talents and passion with the rest of this tangling family!
Have a great week everyone. Oh, and next week there are going to be changes with my posting. I am finally going to be launching my new blog!!!!!! I will keep this one. But when I started blogging, I had not yet found Zentangle. And then when I did,.....it kind of took over the theme of quilling. And the rest is history. But now that I am a CZT, I want to represent the Zentangle method, in the way it deserves. So keep an eye out for next week!!!
So much fun!!! Thanks, Lee!  (click on images to enlarge)
I thought it so funny, that the theme was circus this week, and I just so happened to be playing with my nephew's Prisma Markers, and chose to draw and color this lil' fella!
My first use of Prisma Markers. It'll take some getting used to!
Hope the rest of your summer has a cool 'Splash' to it!!! Signing off as 'Call it what you quill',
and will revisit in my new transformed Zen blogger.  :0)

'TRY' TRICOLOR

Weekly Challenge #225
Guest Blogger, Jen Crutchfield, CZT
'Use Color'  2 or 3

Thank you, Jen for a fun challenge! I have seen other people use these similar colors in their Zias and I always think they look so beautiful! So thank you to all of you! (I can't remember who exactly to give you credit. ) It was soooo hard NOT to use black!!!
I am also going to show the stages (inspiration from Cris Leutourneau, CZT (All Tangled Up in Art) In her past few posts, she has posted pictures of the progression of her tiles or Zias. I feel that it is very inspiring and it shares the learning experience of Zentangle. Thank you Cris for always sharing such helpful info!! :0)

Please, click on any image to enlarge.

This Zendala is one that I just created on my own. Going with the flow of Zentangle. Picking tangles as I go along and create.

Not only was it fun deciding on which tangle to use, I found it fun choosing what color to use too! This was only my 4th Zendala I've done. As you can see it's not perfectly round :0/

Here we go! Finito!! With shading.

Thank you again, Jen for this week's challenge and for filling in for the Diva!!! (What would we do if we didn't have the Diva Challenge,.................. what a scary thought!) haha We LOVE the Diva!!!!
Have a great week and stay in tuned, I will be changing my blog soon. I will keep 'Call it What You Quill', but I am going to be creating a new blog just for all inspired Zentangle info. And soon,......class info!!! " I can't wait!!!"
A many thanks and hugs for all the uplifting messages from last week!!! Love to all!

THE TASTE OF 'TIPPLE'

Weekly Challenge #224
"Monotangle: 'Tipple' "

It was so nice to see that this week's challenge was to use the tangle, 'Tipple'. This tangle just fits anywhere and everywhere.
Sunday, I received a recipe from my sister for Chia pudding. It is very much like Tapioca pudding. It is quite yummy! Anyways, when I made it, I looked at it and thought, this looks just like 'Tipple'. Then today I was driving my kiddos to the library and it started sprinkling on my windshield. (Not to get excited about that sprinkle here in CA,....... that's all it was. Just a two minute sprinkle!) Well, as those few sprinkles hit my windshield, they kind of separated into little balls of water. I just had to share this excitement with my kids and say, "Look, there's 'Tipple', again!" So twice I had inspiration coming at me for this week's challenge.

I added some fruit to give it that touch of color. Prismacolor pencils were used for the fruit.

I can't wait to share with you, all of my endeavors while at my CZT seminar. IT WAS SUCH AN AMAZING ADVENTURE!!!
Have an amazing week ya' all!!!
Thank you, to all of you, for the lovely comments that you share with me!
Oh, I just wanted to share with you this delicious recipe for Chia Pudding. It also includes the nutritional benefits. Enjoy the taste of 'Tipple'. :0)

I hope you can read it. Click on image to enlarge.

ALL BOXED UP

Weekly Challenge #220

This picture is a reflection in the granite at the bar, just underneath the floating billows above. (Doesn't it look like jelly fish?)

My husband and I had a quick little getaway to Vegas. Wow!!! Talk about tangle inspiration!! My eyes were going crazy, and I think I was driving my husband crazy too!! I wanted to take pics every turn we made. Whether it was on the floor, the walls, or the ceiling, inspiration was EVERYWHERE!!!! (The top pic, above, was from an amazing Italian restaurant we ate at, and the one below, was hanging above a bar that we sat at.) Just beautiful!!! Anyways, I do have some inspirations that I want to break down and try to create new tangles.
So while my husband was at the Recycling Expo, I had time to have a little RandR! While doing so I enjoyed playing with the tangle 'All Boxed Up' by Alice Hendon, CZT, of Creators Leaf. What a fun tangle it is!!! Thank you Alice for sharing it with us, and thank you Laura for introducing it!!!
I wished I had taken a picture of my string, before tangling. I just went with it,....and enjoyed the process!!!! I felt the need to add some organic flow to it too though!!
I also felt the need to add color.!

Here with a little more color and flipped!
I may just want to play a little more with 'All Boxed Up'! What fun it is!!

Again, thank you for the friendly comments! All are read with a smile on my face! :0)
(I almost didn't get to this post. I usually can post on Instagram much quicker than a post.) You can follow @5acarlo. I will see you there!

THIRTY FIVE, BRING ON 'DEX' and 'BUNZO'

Weekly Challenge #217
'Dex' vs 'Bunzo'

"HAPPY, HAPPY 35th BIRTHDAY TO YOU, LAURA!!"

Following Laura's instagram and I am the Diva, CZT blog, you will learn a lot about her love and strength that goes out to taking care of her lil' son. Her son Artoo has Moebius Syndrome, which you can learn more about on her blog. She spent a good part of last week in the hospital with him, but thank God they are home and he is feeling much better. Yay!!!! Just in time to celebrate her 35th BIRTHDAY!!!! What a blessing to be able to be home and healthy and ready to celebrate!!!
"Laura you are such a top notch example of Strength, Love and Courage!!!! Many blessings for you and your lovely little family!"

Such a busy week..........
My son had a biography book report due last week and he made his First Holy Communion on Saturday. So, mom was busy!
This is him dressed in character for Leonardo DaVinci.

Just some of the rocks I did for his Communion, but I ended up giving these ones to the noon aides at their school because it was appreciation week. Those noon aides are like Angels watching over our children when we can't be with them!!

I wrote, "When you think of me, pray that I may hear (or answer)  God's call." I put that on each rock because we can all use a prayer and what best can I ask for my child , than for him to answer God's call, in life!

Sadness of the week,.....

The last family photo with Grandma.
Last Wednesday, my mother-in-law passed away. What a woman of Strength!!! She would've been 90 this July. She suffered from Parkinson's which led to other health problems. Thank God, she really only suffered the last 2 weeks of her life. Such a beautiful and courageous woman!!! She had hospice and family, at her bedside. What a peaceful and memorable way to leave this world.
"Grandma, you will be missed very, very much! Watch over us from above, until we will see you again!"

HAPPY AMANDA (EARTH) DAY

Weekly Challenge #214
"Amanda/Earth Day (Round 4)"

Laura, (The Diva), has a son that has, kind of, renamed the Earth! He refers to it as Amanda!!! Which I think is pretty appropriate, because after all, it is Mother Earth. So a female name fits just perfectly!! :0) Any way, I think it is pretty adorable! ( It is kinda funny how children start a whole new language sometimes, without even trying. You gotta love it!)
When I was taking my class for accupressure and learned about the balance of 'Chi' in our own beings, I realized that it is the same with our planet. Finding balance is the best way to peace and harmony! But to acquire that balance, isn't always easy. And there you have it, ...........that's called Life!!! Our 'Amanda' is a living thing, so we must help keep balance in it!!! We must do our part to keep our Earth at peace and in harmony!!

I incorporated the five elements in accupressure that bring balance to our bodies and what also help keep balance to our Earth; Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood and their colors to represent them.
Whatever your life may be, I hope that you find balance in it!! I thank Zentangle, being a valuable part of that balance!! How do you find balance in your lives?

Well, I have to say, it hit me the other night,...................Do ALL Inchies with a spin of Zentangle!! (I think that is going to be hard to stick with, but I'm gonna try) So with that said, I redid last week's Inchie, 'Egg'.

Every Inchie Monday
Weekly Challenge
'Egg'

I don't really know what kind of egg this is, but I found it in our yard. It actually has a bit of blue in it but it is hard to capture that in a photo. I thought it was just beautiful! Since I have a real fondness of eggs, I just had to keep it. (Now it was put to use.)
And now for catch up from the last,....................4 weeks...........yeeks!

'YoYo'
'Walk the dog', gives a whole new meaning when talking about
yo-yo's. (I never could do that.)
Remember, to get a closer look, click on images

'Yellow'
I think of daisies, when I think of the color yellow! That or the sun.
sorry so fuzzy

'ZigZag'
Remember when hair 'crimping' was in, back in the 80's? Well that made me think of zigzag. Picture doesn't show the  fluorescent colors I used, but do you remember that too?
(I think I'm dating myself with this image)
'Magical'
The last Inchie word for 2014! With the Christmas Spirit, in mind, how could I think of anything more magical, than the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ?!!!!!!
My Mooka Holy Family!

Here are just a few other projects I worked on during the last month.
I tangled these porcelain stocking ornaments with Sharpie markers and baked them at 400 for 30 minutes. They were gifts for my Bunco friends. (Sharpies don't stay on forever, especially if you are going to be washing the ceramic, but I figured I was pretty safe with these because I gather they won't be getting washed.)

Air Drying Clay Project

This little guy I sculpted with air drying clay. The '$.99 cent' store had these kits for making a Santa, a Snowman or a Gingerbread man with this air drying clay. I have seen this clay at local craft stores too. (Next year I'm going to price the large containers to see if it's cheaper than buying individual kits.) I bought a kit for each kid in both my sons classes and they handed them out as gifts.
In my younger son's class the teacher asked if I would help teach an art project for Christmas, so we actually made the Santas in class. Now mind you, after I had made this lil' guy the night before, I knew that the kid's Santas would have to be made flat and not 3D.
It was a good thing we did!  (Flat Santas were a challenge all in itself.) But the kids made them and then I put holes in them to make them as ornaments to give to their parents and to hopefully have as a keepsake from 2nd grade! It was a lot of fun!!!!

Here's to wishing each and every one of you who visit my blog!
From my lil' family, to yours!!!
(((Hugs)))
