TOOLS/TRADE and 'SNAIL'

Weekly Challenge #206
'Tools/Trade'

MY choice of tool, was wax and an egg!! Last year I used markers on real eggs to create Zent'Egg'les, for Easter. Well, years ago I use to do the real Pysanky eggs. It has been way to long since I have done this, and when I pulled out my tools, I realized, just how much I miss working with eggs and Pysanky! Anyway, the process is slower than that of a marker, but it is very zen and relaxing!

Here is the same egg, but I have used vinegar to eat away part of the shell and that is why it is so much lighter in color. I will be doing a special post for more about that process, soon. So keep your eye out for a how to! If I were to remove the wax, the darker brown color of the egg will be the design!
Ok, so I know how to do Pysanky on eggs, but doing tangles, ..........was a whole different experience!  The process of laying out a design is different.  But oh, so much fun!!!
Once I had finished that project, I then I thought I would try another tool that I have been wanting to play with to create Zentangle. Paper strips!!! I have been working on a project where I will be combing Tangling with Microns and Tangling with paper! Tangled,....Quilling!!! Here is my first go at it. (Really so much of quilling is using tangles, but in a different sense.)  With Zentangle there are no mistakes. But with quilling, it is a little more difficult to allow for mistakes.
My tools that I used are in this pic.

I used as many scrap pieces of quilling paper as I could that would look ok.

I did shading with the gray marker.

This was so much fun too!!! I truly love quilling, but it takes so much time and patience to complete a project. That's probably why I fell in love with Zentangle. I can see results and finished project within 30 min. to an hour. This project just got me so excited to finish the big one that I have been working on for my niece.

Thanks Laura for the challenge! It's always nice to stretch our comfort zone!!!

Now,
go put some
Zen
into this
TAngleD
world

Weekly Challenge
'Snail'

With trying to stay to my challenge, in doing all of my Inchies the Zentangle way, I just had to use Bijou for this one. Then I had to do a little bit of 'play on words'. So my Inchie is with Bijou and 'Snail' mail!!!
I tried to use as many different tangles as I could, but I have to be honest, this is going to be hard to do all year!!

I hope to see you all next week
as we Inchie our way there!!

IT'S TIME TO ZENT'EGG'LE

ZENT'EGG'LE
your Easter eggs this year!!!

Hello Everyone, and Happy Holy week!!! I just wanted to do a little 'Egg'stra post on Zentangled Easter Eggs! You can go to my post on March 28, 2014, When, I believe, I posted my first Zent'egg'led, Easter Egg. I use a real egg, only because I have been doing artwork on eggs for 15 years now, and I have a lot of blown out eggs saved up! But being that I have started the awesome art of Zentangle, this is my first year Zent'egg'ling an egg.
I just want to share some helpful hints that worked for me.

If you look in this photo, the colored Recollections markers, worked great on the natural egg. (Now I have not yet tried them on plastic eggs.) But one of the BEST finds I have come across, is the 'PERMANENT LePEN' !!! I will never go without owning one of these awesome pens! The secret to these pens is that they are alcohol based. Therefor they dry 'lickity split'!!! No need to wait for drying time! I have tried them on so many slick surfaces, and each time, it works! Plus it does not rub off!   (I found it was a hidden secret, for people who personalize Christmas ornaments, in the shopping mall. They never wanted to tell me what kind of pen they were using. So I was on a hunt. And a very nice sales clerk at JoAnnes' Fabrics let me try some pens out without purchasing them first. And,.... Wah La, I found the secret treasure!!!!) I'm sorry, but some things "ARE" worth letting out of the bag! I believe in sharing the good news!!
So again, if you go to my past post, you will see one example. Then I decided it would be a great contribution to send one to the CBS Sunday Morning, Zentangle effort. Linda Cobb and Linda Halvorsen, are the two CZTs that are organizing this great effort. Trying to get CBS to run an excerpt on Zentangle and the founders, Rick and Maria! I think it is awesome!! I hope it works! (Entries were supposed to be in by April 1st, but I see that more people are still sending them in,.....Like me! ) If you go to Zentangle Blog, you can see sooooo many beautiful and creative entries that fellow Tanglers have sent in! It's not too late to enter yours too!!!
So here is my entry. Including a Zent'Egg'le!!

My story is about using Zentangle to bring awareness to a 'CAUSE'! You can see by going to the header of my blog and click on  Ripple Effect. Also, if you go to labels marked 'Brain Cancer Awareness', you will see more Zentangle for a 'CAUSE'!

For the very bright yellow, I had used a water color brush pen. I don't have the package anymore, otherwise I would share the brand.

I hope you enjoyed the little bit of info. I hope that it helps!
So go on an 'Egg'stravaganza, and
Zent'Egg'le
your Easter Eggs this year!!
If I have a chance, I want to do more Zent'Egg'les, and if I do, I will add them to this post!

STRING THEORY, SPIRAL OUT (entry II) ZENT'EGG'LE

Weekly Challenge #160
"String Theory: Spiral out, Keep Going! (v.2)"

Okay, I know I said I was real busy right now with my parent's 50th anniversary, but I couldn't help to want to spiral out, again!! And mostly, on an egg!! For years my mother and I have done Pysanky egg art. It is a Ukrainian tradition done for Easter. I LOVE doing Pysanky eggs.(Unfortunately, not enough time to do that right now in my life.) Now that I have been introduced to Zentangle, Pysanky is quite like the form of Zentangle. Except that with Pysanky, each and every symbol or stroke put onto an egg, has a meaning. Even the color that is used, is all symbolic. Pysanky is a Christian art form that dates way back. (At another time, I will do a whole post on Pysanky) But since I am strapped for time, I will hold off on that for now. So this leads to my desire to want to spiral an egg!! (Usually in the art of Pynsaky, you don't want to spiral, the circular lines need to meet and be precise.) Anyway, I though it might be fun to do a quicky!!! (those usually are fun, aren't they?) heehee
Here is my spiraled l out zent'egg'le!!   (click images to enlarge)
This end I want to use lines to work between.

This side of the egg, I wanted to keep airy, open and more organic.

Side view.  I used a blown out, light brown egg.
The reason I hurried to get this in and post it is to, maybe inspire all of you! Easter is right around the corner! But also, that it is really fun to spiral on an oval shape such as an egg. Give it a try! (I will go into more detail on pens and tangles that I used, in a future post.) So stayed tuned!!

The work that everyone has done with this Diva Challenge, is just simply AMAZING!!
Have an awesome weekend!
