SOUL MATES

Soul Mates

Sometimes, you just know, that two people were meant to be together. Well this little story is about two wonderful people that I know and how God had a plan for them both!!
Dave married Angelica, I want to say about 15 years ago? Anyway, they have one son of their own and then an adopted son. After having their 1st son, Angelica found out that she should not have anymore natural children of their own because she had a kidney disease and it would be life threatening if she did. So that's when God gave them another son to take in and they were to call him  their own. Beautiful family!!!
Well, just this past year we were notified that her kidneys were failing and that she should have a kidney transplant in hopes that she would not need to go on kidney dialysis. So people put their info in to donate their kidney to her. I don't know a lot about this whole process, but I know they try to find one that would be most compatible to the receivers body.
Well, Angelica's husband Dave turned out to be the most compatible! So this last Wednesday, Dave donated one of his kidneys to his wife Angelica. Meant to be!!!! They are doing well, but all prayers are welcome to continue recovery and so that her new kidney will be happy and find itself at home in her body.
God Bless you two with a long continued life together!!!
Here is my tribute to them!

Since the two of them have such a love for their faith, I decided to go ahead and do a depiction of 'The Sacred Heart of Jesus'. Showing their love for each other, and God's love for them!!! Amen!!!!

God Bless All who are ailing and sick may God grant you health!!

ZENTANGLED ACTS OF KINDNESS

Zentangled Acts of Kindness

Oh my goodness!!! I am soooo excited about this! From the Challenge #178, at I Am the Diva, CZT, I found Ginny Stiles CZT, at An Artist Labyrinth. If you go to her blog you will learn about her idea of sharing Random Acts of Kindness. I read her post and got so excited because I believe in those little acts of kindness that can turn a person's day, or even life around!! So THANK YOU SO MUCH GINNY for sharing your idea with us all!!
Since she put this lil' bee in my bonnet, I just had to do something about it! And Fridays, here at my house, are a little less hectic so I was able to do some playing!! This is what I came up with.
Now for starters I am using artist drawing paper.(Not quite ready to use my Zentangle tiles.) Anyways here is the paper I used.
It is quite a flimsy paper, but I love the texture and it is tan in color. Which allows for touches of white to be used. (I don't know it just feels like it is homemade. I love textures.) It is also very inexpensive. So I can play all I want and not feel scared of mess ups.

These are the fronts of the little cards.
I did find the Washi tape and used it at the fold just to give some durability.  I also used some punch tools (as I also love those) to add to the edges of the fronts of the cards. I had so much fun with these.
I cut my paper 3"x6", so I could fold them and they would be an equal 3"x3". If I do more and represent Zentangle, I will make them the standard 3.5" cards.
I used tangles that I thought might lend to cute little messages inside. And here are the insides of the cards.
as always, click on image to enlarge
So the upper right hand corner card (looking at the front of the card pic) has wild patterns. So I added inside, 'Have a Wild day!' For the upper left card, that reminded me of bubbles, I wrote the bubbles comment! ( Really, how many of you can say 'bubbles' without smiling?) They go hand in hand. If you don't recognize the tangle in both of those two tiles, it's because it is my new one called
'Ooples' (click on it to view step outs)! I'm having so much fun with this one. I think it's because it's so easy and because there are a lot of possible variations with it.
So I can't wait to leave one of these little cuties somewhere. Oh, and you thought I was excited,..........you should've seen my kids and their response to what I was doing. The two older ones understand the concept and they want to help me figure out where to put these. I told them I could leave one, every now and then in the school office for the secretaries. And keep it anonymous! Hee hee, I can't wait!!!
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments about my little cards, and/or go to Ginny's blog and leave her a comment. She would love to hear how she inspired someone else! :0)
Thank you, again Ginny for sharing your inspiration. We all, can make the world a better place, one Zentangle at a time!!!! Please do go to Ginny's blog, Here, (this is another post about her Random Acts of Zentangled Kindness). You gotta just love this idea and how we can make a difference.
Pay your Zen forward!
And let's help
Put a little Zen
into this tangled world!!

Totally Awesome

BEADS OF COURAGE and A CAUSE

Weekly Challenge # 171
"Beads of Courage"

First of all, I have to say, that this challenge has been the most heartfelt challenge I have experienced with the Diva's Challenges. It has united us all in a deeper way than just Zentangle. Courage!!!! Courage is one key factor that we all have within to keep us going. And when you have a whole support group on the side lines rooting you on, ...............Courage grows!!!! I have already read most of the posts on Laura's linky machine for this week, as I have been trying to finish my tile. My heart feels the pain and yet the outstanding courageousness that each person has shared on their post. So my tile not only goes out to my niece, Katie, but I want to share it with everyone, both child and parents, and loved ones, that sometimes feel courage won't last. It will!! We are all rooting you on, on the sidelines!!! With courage comes unity, trust, hope, faith, charity, love and understanding! Beautiful emotions that sometimes can only be shared through pain and suffering. My prayers, love and ((((HUGS)))) to all that have opened themselves to sharing their story!!!
As most of you know, I have a 21 year old niece that has been diagnosed with an incurable brain cancer. (I do believe in miracles though.) Anyway, with brain tumors and cancer, a lot of times the person also has to fight the battle of seizures. My niece has been faced with seizures and the unfortunate disabilities that have entered her life because of them.
Striving to be courageous in every way, she has had to put her college education on hold, she is unable to have the freedom of driving and living a freer life as any 21 year old should. Having to hold back on independence has been the most challenging for her at her age.
As we, her family, are all here to help her, there is very little we can physically do. Except cheer her on, on the side lines and pray!!!! A big part of dealing with her illness, for me, has been to Zentangle. I shared that with my contribution to the CBS Morning Show, effort for Zentangle. Zentangle is therapy and it helps deal with hurtles in life! Anyway, thanks to Maria and Rick, it has opened the door to a new therapy that speaks to so many of us.
Here is my Zia, for 'Beads of Courage'
I chose this Zia, to represent the beads on a Rosary. I know I have added an extra decade to it but I know Katie has earned far more beads than this.

The tangles used on some of the beads are '120 Ribbonz',  and hugz IN kizzez , both in honor of Katie.

Prayer and Katie, were my inspiration for this Zia!! The gray represents 'grey matters' ribbon for brain cancer, and the lavender is the color that represents support for seizures.

I have asked Katie for permission to write about her journey and with her courage, she is more than happy for me to share it with people. She says it will help bring more awareness to the insight of brain cancer and to learn more about it. She had a picture of her brain on her cell phone as the screen saver. When I saw it I said, "Oh my goodness your brain is so beautiful!!"  And then the more I looked at it I started seeing that it could be used as a string for Zentangle. Of course, with her permission, she let me do so! I told her and I tell anyone else with any kind of illness, "Your brain is beautiful Katie, it's the cancer that is ugly!!" So don't ever stop loving you and your body because of the ugly diseases that are out there!! You are beautiful and you are courageous!!!!
click on any image to enlarge

My niece really likes the Lotus flower, so I chose that over the area where her tumor and cancer are. Positive thoughts and prayer for healing!! I do want to share big "THANKS" to Barbara Geer, for helping bring awareness and prayer to The awareness of brain cancer in support of my niece!!

Me and Katie at the 5K run for Brain Cancer Awareness

Katie, sporting her new wig! Amazing how it looks like her real hair!!
I know this has been an extremely long post, but thanks to Laura, it has been an opening to let all of us share a little personal pain and courageousness with one another. And to be supportive of one another also!!  I urge all of you to please visit Laura and her family, at her blog and read about their ongoing courage to fight Moebius Syndrome. And please take time to read all the other's posts and their journey with courage! We can all learn how to be more understanding and aware of every cause, by sharing our pains! We all, in many ways have earned "Beads of Courage!"
We must always count our blessings!

HAPPY EARTH DAY!! and INCHIE 'HOT'

"Oh Amanda!!!"
Weekly Challenge, #164

Happy Earth Day, to everyone!!! A day to give back to our Mother Earth!!! (It should be everyday, but let's use this day to focus and reflect on how we can make a change!!)
So my kids are celebrating Earth Day at school, and my 1st grader asked me if helping animals, helps the earth... Hmmmmmmmm! I said yes! (Now his teacher said no. But I have a feeling it was because of how he asked the question.) So when my husband got home we asked him, and thank goodness, he said yes! I would love to hear your input on this! We gave some explanation on how worms help the earth, animals eat plants and it helps maintain balance, and fish help keep balance in our ocean reefs!  I could probably think of more,....but anyway! Now that we are here on earth, what ways can we make personal changes to help maintain balance and keep our Earth Flourishing?
(click on image to enlarge; Tangles used Quandary, Diva Dance, and (clouds?)

I decided to go with a Zia! A tree, waterfall, green and blue, and then a dove with a branch from an Olive tree, for 'Hope'!!!! In hopes that our Earth will go on for generations to come!!!
Back in January, the Diva's Challenge, #150 was 'One little word', and my submission for that would also work for today's Earth Day challenge!!!

HAPPY  ZENTANGLED EARTH DAY!!

STRING THEORY, INITIALS

Weekly Challenge #162
String Theory, Initials

It's so nice to have a little time to think nowadays! My parents 50th Anniversary was a success! I believe everyone but about 5 people showed up!! That means there were 220 guests there to celebrate!! It definitely was a celebratory event!!
On with the challenge!!! My initials when I sign them are........
APC   Here's my Initial String.
I thought this was a really fun Challenge this week! Very free!
Tangles used: Kinetic,Sanibelle, Diva Dance, Por Fin, and '120 Ribbonz'

Along with doing my initials, I thought I would do a tangle using my niece's Brain Cancer Awareness group name.
The ABTA is putting on a walkathon April 12, to raise money for research for brain cancer.
My niece, Katie, has just finished her 3rd week of chemo and radiation and is now beautifully bald!!! Through all of this, she somehow, always exudes a smile that reaches ear to ear and to whomever is around!!!
Katie you are unbelievably amazing!!!! Two of her Aunts are leading this rally of people to help find a cure! There are about 90 people right now that are ready to walk for Katie. And an amazing amount of money has been raised too. Check out Motivated Muggles, and if you care to make a donation,  every little bit helps!!!!!!
Katie's favorite color is orange, and the name Motivated Muggles was inspired by Harry Potter. One of Katie's favorite movies. These are our walkathon T-Shirts!
"GO TEAM 'MOTIVATED MUGGLES'!!"

Have a lovely, 'Springy' week!!!

And the color of brain cancer awareness is gray! Please use this tangle and help promote Brain Cancer Awareness, and/or any other cancer! Let's spread the word! Let's show our compassion!!!
Again, let's show support to our loved ones and/or anyone out there that is battling cancer!
Tangle '120 Ribbonz' and show we care!!

GRAY MATTERS

With my permission (Annette Carlo), any artwork can be used for Brain Cancer Awareness.

Brain Cancer Awareness

I told my niece I wanted to do an Awareness post on my blog. I asked her if it was ok to tell her story but not use her name. Just say I know someone dear to me who was diagnosed with brain cancer. Well, she told me to use her name and her story to help encourage people to become more aware of brain cancer.
I first have to say, I have started, and restarted this post and I still don't know if it's the way I want to write it. So here I am trying again. (It is a difficult thing to express and write about.)
Back in December of last year, (2013), my 21 year old niece had a seizure, which she had never had one before. Having that, it led to testing. With the testing, the doctors found out she had a brain tumor.  Thank God, she had a successful surgery in removing the tumor. The biopsy was done and unfortunately the results came back malignant. They got the whole tumor, but with the type of cancer that the tumor was, it had already gone into her brain cells. A lot of brain cancers are hard to diagnose because they do not show up in blood testing, as far as white blood cell count goes. Unlike many other cancer detecting tests. (I really need to do more awareness myself, so I don't know if this is true for all brain cancers.) They diagnosed her cancer as Anaplasta Astrocytoma- Grade 3. Since, she has had two more seizures because of where her tumor was. (Again, I believe, not all patients who suffer from brain tumors/cancer, have seizures.) She will begin her chemotherapy and radiation treatments soon. That will begin a whole new journey for her and the family. She is surrounded with love, from family and friends. She is a strong and brave soul!  We all have Faith and Hope that she will win this fight of cancer! "Katie you are AMAZING!!!!
The reason I put so much detail into her story, is because I had NO 'REAL' idea about any kind of cancers, especially brain cancer and the effects that it has on the person and their families. So much support is needed for the person going through it and the family members. So it has moved me to want to help people know the 'REALNESS' of it.
I had know idea. But did you know that there are 120 different brain cancers, alone? The American Brain Tumor Association, is constantly trying to raise money to try and find ways to treat and hopefully be able to test for brain tumors, before a tragic symptom appears. I have only read part of the information on brain tumors, as it is overwhelming, but I want to learn more. It is also amazing how much more empathy I feel for sufferers and their families that have to go through something like this. I never knew! Please, I encourage you to go to the site and read and maybe help donate to a cause that could save someone's life!!! Did you also know that the gray ribbon is the symbol for brain cancer, diabetes and asthma? Reason being for the motto, "Gray Matters!" That I thought was very clever!
Since I express better through vocals and art, I am going to use this post as a venue to share my awareness contributions.
Feel free to use any of the Brain Cancer Awareness artwork as long as I approve it and it is not used for individual means of making money. Other than for raising money for The American Brain Tumor Association.
As I learn more I will share it with you! In the meantime I do want to share my inspirations and hope that it will create Ripple Effect, to bring awareness and more compassion and understanding to any and everybody that is going through any kind of disease.

Zentangle and Brain Cancer

Back in September I started learning about a whole new art form called Zentangle. Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas are the creators of this technique and their motto is "Anything is possible, one stroke at a time." ( It's basically, doodling, but coming from a whole new angle and technique. So that anybody could create art. Even someone who has no artistic talent at all. "one stroke at a time.") And then Sandy Steen Bartholomew from BEEZ in the Belfry, illustrator and author of many books, took it to another level. She has a book called, "Yoga for the Brain" and also a phone app called, "Tangle Library". Well, the reason I bring any of this to your attention, is that my niece is a doodler. One of her college classes is Yoga. So she showed me a journal that she is keeping and she titled it Brain Yoga! Not even knowing yet, about Zentangle or the  "Yoga for the Brain", book even existed. I bought her a few books and introduced Zentangle to her. She has found that it helps relax her mind and is a form of therapy for her. This is her first Zia (Zentangle- Inspired Art). I think she did a fabulous job! And it wasn't quite finished yet at this point.
Katie's first ZIA (Zentangl-Inspired Art)  She's a natural!!!
I guess I am also promoting Zentangle here, also! But I figure, it can be a part of the Ripple Effect, in that, it could find therapy for someone else out there reading this post. Again, this is going to be my way of expressing and promoting Brain Cancer Awareness! Through Zentangle and Zias!!!
Let's see if it inspires you to bring
Awareness to Brain Cancer!!
Remember, it all starts with one stones throw,
and creates a 'Ripple Effect!"

MOEBIUS SYNDROME AWARENESS, INCHIE 'BROWN', and TWINCHIE 'GLASS'

Weekly Challenge #151: String Theory
Moebius Syndrome Awareness

Moebius Syndrome is a congenital nerve disorder affecting cranial VI and VII nerves controlling the lateral movement of the face. Moebius is a spectrum disorder - so some cases are more severe than others. Our dear friend Laura from I Am the Diva CZT, has a son, Artoo, who suffers from this disorder. She is focusing this Weeks Challenge on the Awareness of this Syndrome. I think this is a great idea and a wonderful way to let people, in the world, become aware of all of our differences. And yet embrace those differences!!
This is my first time with the Diva's Weekly Challenges to know and learn about Moebius Syndrome! Thank you, Laura for making me aware!!! Your little Artoo is a bright, wonderful, and happy little boy!!! He and his brother remind me of my two boys. They are best buds!! Whenever you share pictures with us, he exudes 'happiness'!!!! So 'You keep on Smiling Artoo'!!!! xo's
Laura, I'm donating this to MSAD if it can be used with/for anything it is yours!

ONE LITTLE WORD, INCHIE 'AMULET', and TWINCHIE 'FILM'

One Little Word
I Am the Diva CZT
Challenge #150

Humanity- (n) the quality of being humane; kindness; benevolence
Humanities-the study of literature, philosophy, art, etc.

So there you have it! My little word for the year!! See what, Share Humanity means to me, and how I want it to be a big part of my year, 2014!!! Maybe you'll feel the 'ripple effect'. Last year was, Peace! May Peace be Yours!!
I just want to say, I'm a little late in getting my word out, but have come down with the flu! I thought I would just use my original Humanity Zia, but I really wanted to do something different! So this is what I came up with. (The 'BIG' picture of my word!) In the meantime, I have looked at all of the other entries for The Diva's Challenge, and my heart just overflows!!! All, and I mean, ALL of the entries that I have looked at and read, are so INSPIRING, and BEAUTIFUL!!! I can just feel everybody's passion in each word they have chosen! And the whole time, I'm nodding my head thinking , yes, that is an awesome word! So my hat tips to all of you, for such beautiful and heartfelt posts! You all have such AWESOMENESS!!!!! Love to you all and hopes that all your little words hold dear all year long!!!
Okay, okay, I had an epiphany, a new word came to me today!!! Since I haven't been well, I have had to sit around and just be!!! Well, tonight after dinner, I was just sitting there staring at my new little journal. I decided I wanted to break it in. So, I'm sitting there and thought, " I just want to PLAY!!!" And then I thought about it. How many times in my day does my little girl or my sons, come to me and say they want to play. And how hard it is for me to say, "I'm busy and or I can't right now." Why is it that as adults, we forget how to Play????? I am such a routine, follow the rules, and gotta have a plan and think things through first, ...kind a girl that sometimes I have a hard time to get in that Play mode!!! So, let's just say, I'm gonna call 'Humanity' my BIG word and this will be my 'little word'!!! 'PLAY!!'  I'm gonna try to be more playful!! (Why should that be so hard?)

play-verb- amuse oneself by engaging in imaginative pretense
play at- engage in without proper seriousness or understanding
I tried to pick Playful tangles to use for this!! No rules, no thinking and planning, no do's or don'ts, just playing!!

It is to also bring good luck!
So, yes, I do have one!!  I got it from my Italian Grandma years ago!! It's in the picture to the left, and then I quilled one for the picture below.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, 2014

Touched by Humanity
2014
*Humanity-Kindness (n)   "2014 words to live by!"  (click photo to enlarge)

Each New Year, starts a feeling deep inside, of a "New Beginning"! Even though another year has passed, it should never be looked at as the end! But how can there be a 'New beginning' if there is no end? Well, continue whatever you have not finished from previous, but always know that each new day, each new tomorrow, can be a beginning of something EXTRAORDINARY!!
Life is a new beginning, in every breathe we take!!! Cherish it! Utilize it,..................Make a difference!!!!
Every New Year, I try to have a focus on something that comes from within. 2013, was the year of 'PEACE'. After lots of happenings at the end of 2012, I thought it appropriate to 'pay it forward', with the focus on 'Peace'. Hopefully causing a ripple effect, in some small way. "May Peace be Yours!"
This New Year, 2014, I feel as though the world has a need of compassion! A need to show 'A Touch of Humanity'!
A simple look in someone's eyes, a smile, a hello, if we help an elderly person, or whatever small thing we can do for our fellow human being, we can start a ripple effect! Random acts of kindness!!!
"Share Humanity!!"
"DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE DONE TO YOU."
"LOVE THY NEIGHBOR."
(About 7 years ago, I had a gift shop called, "A Touch of Humanity." Being that I am a massage therapist, I believe so much in the power of touch!  I did massage in part of the shop and the other part, I sold gifts that could be bought, that had meaning to them. I had a lot of art work and handmade items that were sold on consignment, spiritual gifts and cards, and a lot of personal and inspirational gifts. I closed my business shortly after I got married. The time spent away from home wasn't going to work. My, touch, was needed more at home. Kids, my own family, were going to be the start of my New Beginning!)
I add this little bit of info because, it still means something to me! "A Touch of Humanity"! Our world is in need of humanity!! We need to start showing that we care!! I believe it can all start within each and every one of us! I don't care how big or how small the act of kindness is that we do, it's doing something! And if each and every person did "One Small Act of Kindness," every day, this world would be a more loving and Peaceful place!!!
My challenge for myself is to do one, or more, Random Acts of Kindness, every day!!!! So I challenge you to do the same!!!

"LET'S START THAT RIPPLE EFFECT!"

Little Unborn Baby to Ashley Moser

Sometimes,.....we can't understand the things of this world! (I know I can't)
And nothing, and I mean nothing, except for the Love of God,
can we keep our hope and strength!

This post is dedicated to the families that lost a loved one,
in the incomprehensible shooting, in Aurora Colorado.
I found out about this when I turned on my computer, on MSN.
Right away I became sooooo emotionally immersed, in respects to the
families who lost a loved one. My heartfelt prayers, go out to all of you!
I, also, continue to pray for those who were fortunate to get away, but now, have that
unforgettable memory of what happened that night.
May the Love of God give you all healing and
peace in your hearts, minds and beings.

In memory, I was moved to give something, which is really, nothing,
to all of you and the city of Aurora Colorado.

Aurora Co. Municipal Center, city hall.

This is the Colorado state flower. The 'Lavender Columbine'.

Everything on this piece is a symbol in some way to the morning of 7-20-12.
The ribbon, hearts and the Colorado state flag,.............represents love and strength.
Columbine flower,...........is in remembrance
Lavender background,.........showing my deepest sympathy
59 yellow hearts in the center,..........for those who were injured
12 tear drops (in white and black).............black for those whose lives were taken, and the
..............white for the mere innocence of them being there
One large tear drop...............for the tears that are shed for the grieving families and friends
One tiny tear drop..............for the little life of unborn baby to Ashley Moser (who I, dreadfully,                                                       heard  about later)
Sometimes our inspiration comes from things like pain and saddness.
I'm saddened that's what came to be!
May God Bless and Be With You All!
Pope Benedict XVI said, he was praying for all “as a pledge of consolation and strength” for God.

I also want to pray for the parents of the young man that took these lives. I can't imagine
their confusion and state of mind. I can't believe they ever thought they were raising their child to do something like this!( I always pray for the evil to have a change of heart, because then,.....
 evil would not exist!)
